Welcome to Woodland Park, N.J.
West Paterson’s name was changed to the Borough of Woodland Park, effective January 1, 2009.
A referendum on the Nov. 4, 2008 General Election ballot, calling for the name change, resulted in a majority of the registered voters in favor of changing the name of the borough: 2,136 Yes to 2,111 No. On Dec. 17, the Mayor and Council approved a resolu-tion accepting the election results and officially de-claring Woodland Park as the borough’s new name.
A second referendum was placed on the Nov. 3, 2009 General Election ballot seeking to have the borough’s name revert back to West Paterson. Voters defeated the question: 2,248 No to 2,216 Yes. Therefore, the borough’s official name will remain Woodland Park.

Old Street Lights Being Replaced
USE CAUTION WHEN DRIVING. . . .
PSE&G has started replacing all of the Borough’s old street lights with new “induction lighting”. The result will be a reduction in lighting costs, but more importantly it will save energy while providing better lighting with less maintenance.
The project has been contracted to a third party, so the workers will not be in PSE&G trucks.
Some work may be done at night.

New Diposal Contracts Change Weekly Pick-up Schedules
New disposal contracts have re-sulted in significant savings for tax-payers.    A credit analysis issued June 30, 2009 by Standard & Poor’s Rating Service has resulted in an upgrading of Woodland Park to an “AA” rating and “stable” outlook.

NJ FamilyCare ‘Express Applications’ Available Online
More than 450,000 children in New Jersey do not have health care coverage, according to data provided by their parents’ state tax returns. The state is using this information to help enroll children in the NJ FamilyCare program.
NJ FamilyCare is a low-cost or free program for income-eligible families. For instance, a family of four earning up to $77,175 (or 350 percent of the federal poverty level) can qualify to insure their children for about $130 a month in the state- and federally-funded program.
